Jennifer Ross

Jennifer Ross1st Avenue Communications was founded and continues to be managed by the eminently capable Jennifer Ross, to offer clients an intelligent and logical solution to hiring a full time PR professional. Having built a network of Australian media contacts over fourteen years, Jennifer facilitates the communications requirements of clients with aplomb, ethics and professionalism.

A media relations, community relations and crisis management expert, Jennifer can provide strategic counsel across a variety of sectors and excels at planning and executing successful public and community relations programs.

Her experience across private industry and government organisations has included employment with RailCorp, TAFE NSW, the Australian Veterinary Association, and Caltex Australia as well as two public relations agencies. She has managed projects for Kimberly-Clark Australia, National Australia Bank, Schroders, Unisys the University of Sydney, University of Western Sydney and AusAID. Jennifer is also a member of Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).

Jennifer’s role at Caltex included acting as media spokesperson on such issues as petrol prices and site remediation. She also undertook media strategy and planning and produced the Annual and Half-Year Reports. She was responsible for producing Caltex’s first online version of the Annual Report, considered cutting-edge and an enormous departure from the organisation’s previous PDF versions.

Working in the Community Relations section of the NSW Attorney General’s Department and then in Public Affairs for State Rail between 1998 and 2000, Jennifer keenly honed her community relations experience. In recent years she has worked on a variety of community relations projects for Coles supermarkets, Sam the Paving Man and Sydney Civil.

With Arts and Law degrees and qualifications in Editing and Proofreading, Jennifer is well qualified to research and understand any industry, and produce quality communications targeting all stakeholders. She was also the Editor of the bi-monthly and then quarterly strata sector national print publication, Inside Strata.

Beyond her role as Managing Director of 1st Avenue Communications, Jennifer is a part-time TAFE teacher delivering modules on Environmental Law and Public Environmental Reporting for the Graduate Certificate program in Ecological Sustainable Development.

Jennifer was National Editor of print magazine Inside Strata and contributing Editor to two digital magazines – Community Lifestyle and The Credit Report. She is an accomplished writer, editor and producer and enjoys access to excellent designers, digital and print production houses and advertising sales managers as well as a number of freelance writers. Together this team produces publications that are highly valued by their audiences.
