Client Spotlight: Strata Community Australia

1st Avenue Communications began providing PR services to Strata Community Australia when it launched its new brand in July 2011.  Formerly known as the National Community Titles Institute, the first task was to introduce the brand to various stakeholders and key influencers including media and politicians.

1st Avenue Communications developed a program where various key media representatives from major metropolitan newspapers were provided with individual briefings about the new SCA brand and issues within the strata industry. No two stories were the same, providing each media contact with some exclusivity.

This tactic has worked well and SCA frequently has media seeking comment on issues with the strata and community title sector.

Other PR strategies for the new brand included liaison with key politicians and involvement in lobbying on the issue of high insurance costs in Far North Queensland. The SCA CEO was supported in his lobbying efforts by 1st Avenue Communications, which formed relationships with political media advisors and key Queensland media. A media campaign at key milestones meant that SCA was provided with air time and column inches in commenting on this issue.

The next phase in the PR program involves working with the National Broadband Network (NBN) Co to ensure owners and tenants are given ample opportunity to connect to the NBN as it is rolled out in their areas.
